Jenna Barratt | Color Assignment- Rich Tradition

This is a picture of the bride's hands at the Indian wedding ceremony I attended. The bride always wears red and gold for the marriage ceremony. Red is the most prominent color for the bride and it symbolizes prosperity, fertility and martial bliss. Gold is symbolizes the blessing of Deity. The henna is more or less just for adornment, only done for a special occasion and the Indian tradition is that the new wife should not do any housework until the henna has faded away. They say the darker the henna the deeper the groom's love.

Really there are so many beautiful traditions surrounding this wedding ceremony and every color had special significance. I was amazed by the astounding color throughout the wedding, reception and other festivities. It was a bright and colorful event. I choose this warm palette for my color project because I felt it best represents the intense moment that was the actual wedding ceremony. With all the planning and time that had gone into the event, I wanted this color palette and photo to represent the richness of the wedding, the traditions and their love.
