Childhood is a
different experience now than it used to be. Gone are the days of kids just
going outside and making mud pies. Instead they seek constant entertainment
from their gadgets, and are exposed to many awful things through the movies,
music, and videogames that they now consume. I wanted to draw attention to the
joy and innocence of growing up that I think has been lost on the current
generation. The shear fun of exploring the outdoors and rolling around in the
mud. The child in the picture may be dirty and covered in mud, but his
happiness in that moment is pure.
I used a font called
DK Lemon Yellow Sun, which has a very fun and childlike vibe to it. It is also
very simple which was important because my message is about the simple joys of
childhood. The text is a slightly brown, off-white color, to compliment the
colors and tone of the image. The text is right aligned to match up with the
right edge of the photo, and the top/right placement of the words balances out
the bottom/left placement of the child. The image is a stock photo from Getty
Images that I cropped.

Your font choice is perfect for this! It's not overly childish, but it goes really well with the message you're trying to convey.

ReplyDeleteI love the contradictory word clean and the child in the mud. The typeface if really cool because it directs you to the proper meaning of clean fun by being a funner font.
ReplyDeletethe font is PERFECT!! I love that you used white - perfect contrast with the mud. I like that you toned down the coloration of the picture as well. awesome job.
ReplyDeleteI love your font choice! The font itself is not very clean, more playful which helps your message. Good choice using the off-white rather than a pure white to match the rest of the image.
ReplyDeleteThe typeface feels like the photo-- personal, handwritten, and happy. I like the positioning of the copy, but I think I would make it a little smaller so as not to detract from the child in the mud.
ReplyDeleteGreat image, It's a fun play on words with the image. It makes you stop and think for an extra second which I think make sit more effective.
