Typography Assignment #2 Tyler Shaw

For this assignment, I decided to use the picture I took for the first picture assignment. I took this picture of the moon in the middle of the night, and to me, it emulates many different emotions. I love the nights sky, and the eerie feeling that it conjures. However, I also like the inspiring presence of the moon among the dark, night sky.
I chose a quote from Edgar Allan Poe's poem, "Annbel Lee" to represent the inspiring moon piercing through the night sky. I chose an Old English font for Poe's name to convey the time period he was from, as well as his profession as a poet. I selected a Vivaldi Italic font for the quote to show the elegance of the poem. I also made the quote the same color as the blue surrounding the moon, and the words "moon" and "dreams" the same color as the bright center of the moon.

I commented on:

Charlotte Duerden
Abby Hobbs

  1. I really like the image that you used. It creates a really cool vibe. I also like how you changed the colors of the different words, that was really effective in enhancing the meaning. I like that you used different fonts for the author and the quote, but in my opinion, I don't think the fonts go together that well. Overall the image has a great effect!

  2. I loved the typeface and colors that mimicked the colors seen in the moon and clouds. The typeface also really is emphasized by the fact it is an older author of the quote so its just awesome!
