Assignment #4: Samantha Williams

I created this design for promotion of upcoming shows and releases for the band Static Waves. This is thought to be an online promotion they can use on their website, Facebook page and social media sites. That is why I decided on the landscape layout. Static Waves is an Indie Rock band and I tried to stick with their clean presentation while still including their brand. I chose a monochromatic color scheme to keep the design from being too busy and then I was able to keep their colors in the circle to separate the opacity of the center and the outside of the image. The eye naturally reads top to bottom and left to right and that's why I chose this layout for the text. I chose this image of the band setting up for a show because it helps the audience to feel the excitement for what's coming (like they are setting up for the new month) it helps drive the feel of what it's announcing.

Commented on: Maren Owen, Blakely Gull, Mallory Jesperson, Sam Thorup, and Skyler Street.

  1. This is all around awesome! Very well done and nicely balanced in all aspects. The monochromatic is a great idea, and the splash of color gives it a more modern feel. This promotion I feel represents the band and the kind of music they may play as well. The information at the bottom is also nicely formatted. Well done!

  2. Stunning. Contrast of black and white is very appealing to the eye! I particularly like the color and font used for the text. It is visible, yet you have to look for it.

  4. This is so well put-together; it looks professional. The typeface fits the image and color is used in an interesting/unusual way to add emphasis to the sharper section of the photo that contains the most important information.

  7. Gangster. My only idea would be dimming the light that is right underneath the headline or maybe even eliminating it completely. But maybe you already tried that. Very good.

  8. This is great. It really caught my eye, which is different because it's in black and white so you wouldn't expect that, but the colored circle really grabs you. Also, the background picture is really cool. This is really well done!

  14. Sweeeet! Really clean, and eye-catching. I think the picture is kind of random, because they're just setting up, and not rocking. Maybe a pic of Jesse jumping off an amp? ;)
