Final Project-Mary Kate Davidson

So I have a friend out in Missouri, and she is in a punk rock band named “The Good Kids,” and they’re actually pretty good. The Lead Singer of the band (Kaia) asked me to do all the art stuff for them, so even though We are in the last few weeks of school and its crazy stressful, my thought process in making this was, ‘hey if this band gets big, and I was the one to help them at first with all their art… I could go places with them.’  Which I think would be pretty cool. So. I made this Promo Poster from scratch in Photoshop for their EP release in May. Because they are wanting to be a punk rock bad I decided to make the poster in a grey scale. Also because I think it looks cool. So the band name and the EP name are actually in a white font and a hand written font and the rest of the words are in an extremely light grey to make "The Good Kids" and "Light Pollution" stand out more. (Which is the whole reason for the event they are doing.. to release their new EP.) I also added a drop shadow behind those as well because with out the drop shadow the words are kind of hard to read. The band members see themselves as a punk band and that’s why I created the grungy texture that is in the background. I made the textured back ground by making a whole bunch of lines in Photoshop on one layer and then also creating another layer with a stamp that I found. And then just edited the layer and transformed it so it didn’t look like a bunch of circles. And then turned the opacity down on both layers so you can see the grey background and both of the texture layers. I included the social media logo’s that the band have because they are still trying to get out there and get more followers and stuff so when they print this poster for their event, hopefully people will like and follow them on those social media outlets.

  3. I really like the whole feel of this poster! It's cool and totally goes with the vibe you were wanting. One thing, some of the text is harder to read, but the important parts are really clear. I think that's a good thing, but it could also be cool to have the other fonts a little heavier so that they're more readable.
