I wanted to create a billboard for my final project and I have the pleasure of singing for the BYU Synthesis jazz band, so when I saw this photo of our latest concert, I knew I wanted to use it for my ad. The Apollo is a legendary jazz venue, so I chose to "advertise" for them.
For the photo, I threw it in a heightened black and white filter, added a watercolor effect, then experimented with a ton of different colored filters overtop. I chose to throw a slight purple glow over the middle of the image to give it an aged classic feel. The purple also tied in nicely with my color palette of somewhat analogous hues; gray, blue, purple, and white.
The font, I wanted really clean and classy to represent the Apollo Brand, but san serif to give a little modern edge since it is jazz after all. I liked the pastel blue because it made it pop out from the other hues while still tying in nicely.

Very very cool. Great background and use of headline. One suggestion would be to do something with the bow-tie logo you got. Maybe lower the opacity or make it smaller, but other than that it looks great.
ReplyDeleteI like how the background photos are kind of blurred, or almost fuzzy. It creates a nice look and makes the words very clear and easy to read.
ReplyDeleteI think the logo is awesome, especially how you put it in front of the fuzzy/diluted image. I just wonder if the logo could be smaller or put somewhere else? I think it should be center, but it feels weird covering almost the entire girl. Other than that, it's SWEET
ReplyDeleteChloe this is great! I love the slight color. And good choice with the blue font; it adds a little something extra!
ReplyDeleteSick. I really like the editing you did on the image itself. Very nice effect overall!
