Picture Assignment #1: Enough is enough

I really wanted to capture what it's like to be sad, depressed and worn out. Sadness is an emotion that manifests itself so much in the face, and is rarely accurately expressed through words. The women in the photo has had a hard day, and has nothing but a tree to hold on to. By blurring the surrounding trees and window area, focus stays on her face and hands, leaving no doubt that the girl matters the most — everything else is secondary. Sucked of all happiness, there is no room for color; what you see is what you get.

  2. Great job with the lighting! The light skin contrast with the dark clothes really draw attention to the facial features. Great job!

  3. The dark tones definitely contribute to the dark theme. The grey sky in the background depresses me and makes me wonder: is it Spring yet? I feel there is no hope for this girl—until I see the wedding ring. I know that no matter how dark things get, her husband, whoever he is, and the love that he gives will be able to shine through the cloudy times of Winter.
