It's On Us - Assignment #2 Robbie Dorius
President Barack Obama recently launched a campaign to stop sexual abuse, which aired as a PSA in the 2015 Grammy's. His message was followed by a victim of abuse and an emotional performance by Katy Perry.
I feel a closeness to this message because my mother was a victim of both sexual and physical abuse.
I wanted to capture a feeling of hopelessness in the image. Victims of abuse often lose their voices in the process, so I chose to remove the girl's mouth. I put the message, "It's On Us" over her mouth to teach who's responsibility it is to stop this issue: ours.
For my top font, I used Aileron Thin. I also used Impact for the bottom font because I wanted to make the statement of "US" as bold and loud as possible.

ReplyDeleteooh this is evocative... I like the simplicity
ReplyDeleteThis is so striking. You can feel the emotion through the photograph and I love how readable your fonts are. I liked how you emphasized "us".
ReplyDeleteWow this is great. The eyes draw empathy from the viewer, and the blowing hair and black and white are very poignant and sad, and the words smash home a message that combines all that. Well done.
ReplyDeleteImmediately captured my attention, her eyes pierce right through you.
ReplyDeleteWow. I love the idea of placing the words on her mouth. It's really powerful
ReplyDeleteVery powerful picture and perfect text placement.
ReplyDeleteNice photoshop, the logo over the mouth has a great effect, and the picture is perfect.
