Assignment #2- "Random" by Lorraine Bailey

For this assignment, I used a picture I took while hiking in Washington. I randomly came across this toilette, sitting there by the water in the middle of nowhere, so of course I took a picture! What was it doing there? I have no idea but since then I am ready to "expect the unexpected," hence the title of this poster and call for action. Life never turns out the way we expect it; it is full of surprises and we better get used to it. In this case, I thought random was just another word for unexpected life encounters.

I used Photoshop to boost the colors of the picture and reinforce the contrast. I also emphasized the reflection of the lid of the toilette to give a certain dimension. I cropped the initial picture to focus on the toilette. For the font I used a font called Raleway, which I made bold and all in uppercase. I wanted a simple and clear font so that the reader could still easily read the message, while being distracted by the random toilette standing next to it. Overall, I kept the poster simple because of the simplicity of the subject.

  1. Cool story. Perfect for the call to action. I love that this was not purposely set up by a photographer but it actually naturally was able to provide that message for you.
