I took this at Ground Zero in New York, NY. It was pouring rain and I was hurrying by, but someone had left a rose for their loved one, which stopped me. The light was hitting the rose so perfectly I couldn't miss an opportunity for a shot like this to portray the love that continues for those that were lost.
The only edits I did was to increase the contrast on the picture bringing the focus from the background to the foreground and cropping to emphasize the rule of thirds.

I really like the yellow on the black! It makes the flower stick out. Also the buildings in the back look wavy, am I the only person seeing that? ... Actually I just looked at it again and realized that is a reflection of other buildings. cool.

ReplyDeleteI think the rose adds a lot to this picture. There's a lot of emotion already, just based on the location, but the rose makes the memorial more alive somehow. Great use of camera angle!

ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing picture. The color contrast as well as focus detail are amazing. The rain on the image help the audience feel a feeling of remorse, but the flower shows hope.
