Alex Clark–Picture #1–"Water"
I took this photo of Stewart Falls hoping it would convey a feeling of the sublime in nature. The jagged mountain towers above as the waterfall comes cascading down the rocks to the viewer. Water is captured in three different forms: as snow that cloaks the mountain's surfaces; as giant icicles, frozen in time mid-air, and as the undaunted liquid that continues past it all before crashing into the river below.
Some forms of the precipitation will stay close to the mountain for a few more months, others will continue their journey forward as they comprise the river. Looking at it, I feel that nature is something much grander than myself. I don't know where the water comes from or where it will go, and its steady perseverance evokes a feeling of calmness and order.
I commented on Michael Taylor, Stephen Potter, Chelsea Luke, Sean Dunshee and Robert Hill's photos.

This is a very pretty picture, the way it is taken makes the mountain seem very tall and extreme.
ReplyDeleteLove the angle on this! Makes the cliff face seem taller and more imposing.
ReplyDeleteLove angle. So beautiful. Well done. And lighting is good too.
ReplyDeleteAlex this brings out the feeling of awe. The image is inspiring, so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice. The angle of the photo and the way the cliff is formed draws you to the middle where the frozen water is. I like it.
ReplyDeleteGreat job at including the sliver of sky on the top it gives your mountain the height and definitly helps create a certain allusion of a steep cliff
ReplyDeleteAlex Clark, the next Ansel Adams. This picture is amazing and makes me want to be there! It really grabs me! The movement makes my eyes go to the top of the mountain and It makes me wonder what it looks like on top.
