I took this photo while I was in the library a few days ago (enjoying some Saturday night study time). I got my inspiration as I was walking through the isles of shelves and realized what a "well of knowledge" the library is. There are thousands, hundreds of thousands, probably millions of books in the world I've never read, or have even heard of. As I ran my hands along the shelves in the library my heart ached to be able to read each one. I used older looking books in my picture to show the timelessness of books, while enhancing the saturation of the colors in the photo to bring in a "new-age" feel showing the current relevance and need for books today. I shot the photo allowing the viewer to see the row of books as sort of a background, with less focus, showing the endlessness of knowledge out there. My photo represents how gaining knowledge is a never-ending quest.

I love the colors in this photo. The rustic feel to the books pulls you in more and makes me want to know what these books are about. What truths do they hold?
ReplyDeleteI have experienced the same feeling walking through the library. I really like the book covers you chose for this picture. I also like the contrast between the books that are in sharp focus with the somewhat hazy background.
