For my final project, I decided to do a personal work in a style that I enjoy: Pixel art.
I used principles of typography and kerning in the development of the letters and their styles, and used pop culture references in the making of the logo.
This logo is intended to be used for my future Youtube channel, for which my alias is "ImNotTrevor"
Since the channel will be devoted to topics related to gaming, and it is pixel art, I decided to use Space Invaders as part of the logo. For the color scheme, I decided to use a monochromatic color scheme but with two other colors that would pop in a satisfying way.
The letters were each made by hand, pixel by pixel. The kerning was also done by hand by moving the letters until they were exactly where I wanted them.
The hardest part was trying to make the motion apparent in the shots fired by the invaders, and in the movement of the tank below.
All in all, I strove to make keep the concept simple but dynamic, and tried to ensure that the purpose of the channel was apparent immediately.
I commented on:
Lexi Erickson
Hailey Stevens
Samantha Williams
Nicole Hale
Hannah Childs
This was definitely "simple but dynamic"! I think this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome project! This is very nostalgic for me, because I grew up playing regular and Super Nintendo. I would suggest changing the color of the background slightly, maybe switching it do a dark blue or bluish gray. It's tough to see "I'm" as well as the invaders. Other than that though, this is a very fun and original work of art.
ReplyDeleteMMM this makes me wanna play Mario and Donkey Kong. Or play the new Super Smash. I like the red and black!
ReplyDeleteThe color scheme is what stands out to me with this work. They all collaborate and make the logo stand out. You get a sense of what the channel is about or what style the brand/person is just from looking at the logo. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteGreat design, though it's hard to see the "I'm" and the aliens from the space invaders game, though that might be intentional. Let me know when you start your youtube channel, i'm game.
