Final Project- Morgan Linford: Help Our Veterans

For this project, I chose to make a poster promoting care of United States Veterans. I used a monochromatic color scheme using a black background and white type to prevent distraction from the main focuses of the poster: the hand and the quote "Freedom is not free."

The anomalies of the hand-drawn leg and hand-written quote create a unique effect when contrasted with the real-life image of my hand. The image is balanced out by the nondescript type which is centered at the bottom of the poster. I also arranged the text at the bottom of the poster so it did not expand past the margin that my hand is creating to draw the eye inward to the hand-written quote. We can also observe triangulation created by my pointer finger and the prosthetic leg, which direct the eye to the hand-written quote.

  1. I love the middle finger concept! And the little drawing on it. This is such an interesting concept. The person at first (at least our audience) will be a little offended by the idea, but upon reading the rest of it the viewer has to look introspective and figure out if they are the person that is causing the problem. Anything that makes me think is really good.

  2. This image is really powerful! I love how it draws in the viewer. The font that is used is perfect and really adds to the image. Also, the colors work perfect to make the hand and drawn foot stand out. This was very creative.

  5. This fantastic. You did a great job with the prosthetic leg. The image and message appeal to anyone who loves freedom, which helps to get the message across to the right people. I also like how it makes people look inside themselves. Well done.

  6. I really enjoy this idea. At first I was confused about why the thumb was sticking out, but then I realized that it was an arm that connected to the legs. The colors go well and really emphasize the hand and then the text with a minimalist feel. Overall, everything works in perfect harmony and the composition really comes together to make a powerful, meaningful point.
