Final Project! Brigham Young says: Board BYU
My final project is a poster to promote boarding: long-boarding, skate-boarding, penny-boarding etc. on campus. I dated the ride through campus back a little bit since our posters will be on display and I didn't want to create any controversy for the class.
I took quite a few pictures with and without the board and then created a few different masks in photoshop to bring in and enlarge the skateboard. The hardest part of the project was getting Brigham's hand to be resting on the board. I made the photo/text black and white so that the board would pop. The headline font is script and meant to appear like something you would see on a campus post card or something to provide irony, with a little bit more bold style font for the the rest of the text calling attention to boarders.

I think the text is excellent, although it looks like the "Board This Place" may be in italics and I maybe wouldn't have done that. The photoshop on the board though is great, the colors are strong and create a good contrast. Good job!
ReplyDeleteCool idea. I love the contrast of the black and white behind the bright green skateboard. The contrast alone really makes this picture work. The font was also a good choice to accomplish the "official" look of a typical BYU card.
ReplyDeletevery creative. nice contrast with the colored board and the white and black Brigham Young.
ReplyDeleteI liked the idea of this picture. The W&B effect looks great and makes a great contrast with the board, so you achieved your purpose!
ReplyDeleteThis is really well done and very amusing. The bright light reflecting right behind Brigham makes the statue pop, which enhances the attention to the board as well. Love the concept, love the execution.
ReplyDeleteThis is witty and well-executed. Way to turn an iconic landmark into a movement!
ReplyDeleteI like how this picture combines something old, portrayed in black and white, with something new, shown in vivid colors, to create a refreshing, authentic idea. I like the angle that the photo was taken at. The only thing I might change is the leading so things are closer together, because right now they're rather far apart, so it seems disconnected. But overall, job well done.
