For my final project, I wanted to create something that was a visual metaphor for the things that could be created using the skills we learned about in this class.
I took a photo of my roommate holding a framed mirror on a blank, open, grassy field. There were no trees, people, or anything, which was nice for taking photos. Her facial expression is a combination of surprised and excited, symbolizing the exhilaration that comes from being able to create new, interesting things.
Inside the mirror, I was able to create the same field I took the photo, but I edited in a tree to illustrate how one can create using the old and making it new (aka a new perspective), which is the essence of creativity. The new scene perfectly matches up with the old one, which represents my ideology that in order to create, you must have a purpose or a goal for your creation.
The frame of what used to be a mirror is also overlapping the photo's subject, which represents how the creation is part of the creator, not something on its own.
All aspects of this creation exhibit the rule of thirds, from the original image, to the newly created image in the frame.
I lightened the framed picture so it stood out more, but not enough to make it seem as if it wasn't a part of the original picture.
The color scheme for this creation was cool, analogous colors, with blues and greens permeating throughout.
I applied a filter over the photo, which is similar to a blackboard, portraying the fact that it takes many ideas to create a masterpiece.
In the end, I wanted to sum up all the different symbols and metaphors I discretely used, and simply said, "Create" in the "Freestyle Script" font. I chose to color it in a light blue so it stayed within the color scheme, and so that it brought out the new, framed creation more.
I commented on the projects of:
Morgan Linford - Help Our Veterans
Benton Challis - Board BYU
This is awesome. It is crazy, yet simple because of the colors you chose to use for the lndscape and the writing. The composition is great and the idea is really interesting. Great job.
ReplyDeleteThis is impressive and definitely displays the skills and concepts you've learned this semester. Your explanation shows just how much thought went into making this and it turned out really well.
ReplyDeleteNice job, the colors look super good! I really like where the girl is placed in the image, it grabs your attention and makes you want to keep looking at it!
ReplyDeleteI think this image does a great job at grabbing your attention and holding it. I love the composition.
