For my final project I went back and forth on the type of visual I wanted to create. I finally decided to do a concert poster for my favorite band. (I also got a lot of feedback from my Uncle who is a graphic designer.) I used Adobe Illustrator to create the image. I decided to use a banjo as the main image for the poster because Lord Huron has a folky sound. My Uncle suggested I look at the banjo in a "new" way and try to find an aspect to transform it. I loved this idea because we did it in class towards the beginning of the semester. So I used the strings of the banjo as if they were telephone wires for the birds to sit on. The following images came from shutter stock-- "Fender" logo, banjo, birds. Possibly my favorite part of the poster is that it mimics the feel of the bands latest album:
In Illustrator I matched the colors of the color and incorporated them into the concert for the color scheme. Like the album, I added an ombre effect to both the background and the banjo. I also added the moon to mimic the imagery of the poster to the album. Because the banjo isn't as readily recognizable I added the brand to the banjo. Overall, I love the simplicity of the banjo and the text and believe it shows the skills I've learned throughout the semester.
