1. This is a drawing I
made for an album cover. The four animals represent the different houses in
Game of Thrones. (We’re Nerds)
2. Each animal is
assigned a member of the band who most represents the personality.
3. The image is a little
off center to the left, but the album titles line up on the grid lines (at
their centers).
4. Because the album
title takes you from left to right diagonally downward, I lined up the band
members name in lines to move the eyes right to left diagonally upward forming
an X.
5. The colors used are
the triadic, plus green because the primary colors are RYB but some believe
they are RGB.
6. Each color matches
with the color of the houses from Game of Thrones
7. Since the majority of
the album cover is grays and blacks, the minimal color allows the band members
name’s to be more present even though they are a smaller font size.
8. The album title has
no color because its font size is larger than everything else, and it already
stands out from the rest.
9. The ellipses allow
continuity between the two parts of the album title

To be honest I was waiting around until you posted yours! I was particularly excited to see what you would do for your final project submission and trust me- I had very high expectations after seeing your work throughout this class- but this piece BLEW my expectations. There is such a complexity in this piece that actually is so simple at the same time (if that makes sense). Great work- as always!
ReplyDeleteAlex, did you DRAW this?? Holy crow, I can hardly make a stick figure look like he's sitting in a chair. Anyway, back to you: You clearly thought through this so much and it shows in the subtle details. Wow. I'd be interested to see some of your other mock ups with different fonts just to see more of the process. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteThis is so impressive--all the details are great and the dominating black/white/gray scale creates a mysterious/foreboding tone that seems to go along well with the album title.
ReplyDeleteNailed it! It's amazingly drawn, Alex. Everything you described was executed really well. I especially like the cleanness of it. In a composition like this it's easy to get carried away but you managed to keep everything tidy and consumable. Well done...now get us some free tickets.
ReplyDeleteSuper great design man. I really like the idea of representation between the animals and you guys.
