With this assignment I wanted to illustrate the power of
dancing by using color. Dancing is a way
for a person to express themselves, just like art and design. I created this
image by making the silhouette of a dancer and placing her on the same page of
a raindrop. I made the dancer white because the color white is the reflection
of light. White is the presence of all colors. As the dancer touches the raindrop
she adds some of her color to the raindrop. The color scheme I used was
analogous. I picked bright colors because I wanted to show how dancing
brightens the world. Next, I have the black background. I picked black because
black absorbs light and is the absence of color. At the bottom, the raindrop is slowly pushing
the dark away and adding color to the black background. I used brush script MT
italic for the font and made it white. I used this font because dance flows and
this font flows. If I had used a serif font it would not have given the same message.
I also made the font white to help make it stand out and connect to the dancer.

Love how your color directs the eye and I think the bright, cool colors you chose give emotion to the picture.
ReplyDeleteThis was brilliantly done. I love how the colors in the splash go up her leg. Very creative and very cool.
ReplyDeleteI love how this picture leads you to the feet of the dancer. The feet are what take the dancer everywhere, are critical to every move, etc. The color splashing at the feet in such a bright way really draw the attention to it.
ReplyDeleteHannah, well done! I love that you really represented the emotion you wanted. This could be a poster for a dance exhibition. I think you really thought through each element, including background and text colors.
ReplyDeleteThis is so creative! I like how you kept the dancer/background very simple so all the focus was on the color. I think the colors are perfect for what message you want to convey.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like an advertisement for a dance studio. I love the colors at the bottom which really pulls in the audience.
ReplyDeleteI love the B/W vs. black and color. The combination of the awesome dancer image with the colors makes for an incredible visual. Great job with the rule of thirds too.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of taking a black and white image and adding color to it. I think it makes it pop more than anything. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI love that the black and white contrast already, so that the dancer is immediately visible. But I love even more that as your eye follows her leg down, you begin to see the color and then the emotions of what it means to dance and how it brings life into things arise.
ReplyDeleteTurned out so awesome! Great job. Good placement of typography, you probably didn't even need it on this one to convey the same message.
ReplyDeleteAs a fellow dancer, I appreciate the message of this design. The splash is really detailed and I like how the color is blended into the white silhouette. Very creative and well done!
ReplyDeleteTruly loved it!!! The design of the dancer matches perfectly with the drop and the contrast between the siluoette and the bright colors make it a great composition
