Assignment 2: Madison Houghton: Autumn music
I took this photo last year on campus, and posted it via Instagram which gave it the edited look. I searched through the internet to find this quote, then created an opaque black box to keep it in. The box gives it a contained feeling which I like. I went through several fonts until I found this one (Iowan Old Style - italic), which I like because of the slant of the words, as well as the thickness. I wanted it to be thick lettering but not too thick, something that reflects the ideas of autumn, and that a lot of other graphics use to keep that feeling of autumn. I also decided to go with an orangey/grey off-white color because white was too bold. Autumn is about bold colors, but not white bold, so I wanted to keep that theme within the image.
Ps the quote is from Shakespeare
Pps I commented on Courtney Johansson, Clarissa Oliphant, Taylor Ricks, Austin DeLaMare, and Miranda Facer

I like the shading to add emphasis to the text. It really makes it stand out visually. I also like that the photo is tilted to make the viewer look at the scene differently than they normally would just walking by.
ReplyDeleteI like how the image is crooked and the text isn't. It helps me to focus on the text. The opaque box makes the lettering stand out more.
ReplyDeleteI also like the angle of the picture. It make you look closer and almost interact by tilting your head. The text is great too. The shaded background of the text makes it stand out nice.

ReplyDeleteYou captured the colors of fall really well and it makes for a beautiful photo! I think the quote goes really well with the picture and I love the contrast between the text and the background.
ReplyDeleteI think this is great because it's showing that for you, fall is the "music" that the Earth has. The box around the words is great transparent because it makes the text stand out while letting us still see the photograph.
ReplyDeleteThis font is cool. Also, I like leaves. And leaves are great. The font-leaves combo really gets me pumped.
