Final Project--Kyle Lemperle
A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to a friend and in the conversation he said, "Once a Coug, always a Coug." I really liked it. I thought it was catchy. So, I decided for my final project to create an image or design that emulated that idea: BYU will always be a part of you.
I think that one of the biggest symbols that represents BYU is "Y" mountain and so I wanted to incorporate that into the picture. And because I wanted it to portray the idea that we, as individuals, will always be a part of BYU, I decided to try and overlay two pictures. There was no unique color scheme here. I strictly stuck with the natural colors of Y mountain. However, the trick was using a filter or two on the separate pictures to help my skin and vest match the color and tone of Y mountain to give almost a camouflage effect. I decided to up the lighting a little bit, too. When the picture was darker, the blend of the two pictures didn't look as clean. The lighter tone of the picture makes the white standout as well as the mixed images. For the typography, I didn't want it to be the most important part. I wanted the image to convey the emotion and idea, so I used a typography that is simple, standard and wouldn't grab too much attention from the viewer. That is also the reason that I used a dark brown--it matched the color scheme and wasn't too loud and obnoxious that it would take away from the image.

I think it looks really interesting. A very creative message.
ReplyDeleteKyle I like the inspiration behind this. I really like how you have the "Y" as if it is part of your jacket. I didn't even notice it was the mountain till I read your comment.
