Picture Assignment 1: Lean Into It by Kensey Berry

Lean Into It
The outcome doesn't matter. Just make sure you're there for it.

After walking around Lily Lake in Colorado I came across this little guy. He looks like my friend Gus, so lets call him Gus. Gus was filled with an amusing amount of personality and charisma. My little friend followed every step I took. If I turned right, Gus turned right. He wanted to be apart of my adventure and didn't care where we were going, but liked the journey. I began to enjoy the company of my little companion. Much like Gus was watching me, I was watching him. The view of the lake was brilliant, but this trip will be remembered not for the view, but for the lesson Gus taught me. Lean into it. Rather than be afraid of the wandering time, understand that if you pursue with positive intentions and enjoy the moments then you will grow from the overall experience. Embrace the now.

I feel that this photo clearly illustrates this little guys motto, "Lean into it." The reason I chose this photo was because it reveals action and meaning. The vibrant colors and strong emotions illuminating off this little guy are definite. The picture exemplifies what needs to happen. Lean into it.

  1. I love this! I love animals and I love that you found this guy in his own habitat but he was still willing to sit still for you and be curious. Shows a lot on his part.

  2. This photo captures the curiosity of little Gus. It's quite humorous. I like the softer blue and green tones in the background, too. His nose seems a little out of focus, but otherwise this is a nice photo.

  5. My question is what did you do to get him to stay? This is great! I love that he is placed in the center in his natural habitat. As the viewer, I feel like I'm actual there with Gus. It's quite amusing

  6. This Lake is beautiful and I love the squirrel, I may or may not have a pet squirrel at home. The way you have caught this little guy head on is so perfect. I also love the colors.
