This past summer I spent lots of time outside enjoying nature. I spent most of my time walking around with a bug net waiting for butterflies and other arial insects to fly by so I could help my boyfriend with insect collections for entemology. After hours of walking around and many frustrating attempts I sat down next to some wild flowers. I sat there for almost 20 minutes before I even noticed the little gardener snake using the wildflowers as a hammock. I suddenly became very curious about the other flowers and began to check the others. I soon found 8 other snakes sun bathing on their flower hammock. I quickly snapped this photo and when choosing it for this project I decided to not edit it. I love the pure and natural beauty of it.
Everyday we go through life missing things. Sometimes we miss important things and sometimes we miss simple, yet beautiful things. We should all take the time to admire the beauty around us and take a chance to look more closely at the details.

Very clever photo, giant flowers masking a small snake hiding. I really liked this and its whimsy nature almost, a very joyful look at nature.
ReplyDeleteThis took me longer to see the hidden beauty than it should have, but most people think the hidden beauty is the snake . . .
ReplyDeleteThis is a fresh idea to introduce something we may not always think about. I like how you used your lens to focus in on the foreground. Great photo, it looks like something you could use for a portfolio.
ReplyDeleteI love how you captured something that most people see as dangerous (a snake) and give it such a new perspective. The lighting creates such a light and serene setting.

ReplyDeleteThe bright yellow contrasts nicely with the shadows of the green grass. It makes me wonder: am I sitting underneath a snake right now? Probably not, but let's say there was one. I would probably have missed it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy that you have the contrast of colors that represents the contrast of the two things. I wish the shadow was a little gone so the subject matter could be seen better.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how bright the sunflowers are! And I also love how the snake is hidden and it takes a second to find it. It's great that you can show that there is more to nature than meets the eye.
