Final Project - Spencer Evans

I'm a big fan of Dr. Seuss. I wanted to make a Christmas ad involving a quote by him from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and this is what I came up with.

I work for BYU TV doing motion graphics like this and thought I'd make something that could actually be aired. So I tried to keep with the branding style of the station in order to make this a more realistic ad.

I chose a classic Christmas color scheme involving green, red, blue, and gold to evoke the Christmas spirit that people feel when they see those colors together.

I intentionally kept the design and animations simple, straight and modern. My reasoning for that is because having too many things going on in a short ad could distract the viewer from catching the overall message. Animation was done in Adobe After Affects.

  1. I thought this was lovely! My only suggestion would be to make the text with the attributions a little larger (it was really hard to see, and because of that I focused on trying to read it). But great message and composition!

  2. This was really well done. I've tried about a dozen times to dabble in After Effects because I can use a lot of the rest of the creative suite, but man that stuff is hard! This looks clean and professional. My suggestion would be to revisit some of the smaller fonts and make them easier to read, it will help bring focus to the right things. Great job!

  3. I love motion graphics and I actually applied to to work at BYU tv doing motion graphics. That is awesome that you work there. Great job. I know you want this to be able to air but if you could somehow get the rights to the original audio of the grinch saying this quote it would be pretty cool.
