Final Project - Nicole Hale

For my final project I decided to create a book cover. It's not based off anything; I just tried to create a cover that I personally would like. I want to point out that the image originally didn't have the black border, I had to add that part so the white portion can be seen. I wanted to create something that grabs your attention but isn't too busy. Originally it had an all gold background, but I felt like it was too flat. So I cropped it and added some texture with the feathered bottom to add dimension. It was still kind of flat so I then added texture to the background as well.

With the typography I wanted to stick with the simplicity theme and chose a clean simple text. I layered the title "DARE ME" over the lips because it created layers and stood out more. When the title was below the lips it became overshadowed and the lips had more attention. Now with the lips and title being layered on top of each other, the eyes are immediately drawn to both. I made the kerning of the title tighter so it would stand out more.

I wanted the gold to look like it had some shine to it and I used a monochromatic color scheme to achieve that look. A monochromatic color scheme was also used for the lips.
