For
my final project, I wanted to showcase my design skills I have learned in this
class and relate it to my major in public relations. I chose to do an
anti-smoking infographic, with a PR campaign called, “No More Butts.” I want to
create action and inform the public with my visual. To help do this I used the
emotion of fear, but also a feeling of concern to cause people to change. The
design I chose helped me create this emotion. I wanted to use a minimalist
layout for my image. I did this by creating my infographic to look like a
Marlboro cigarette box. Everything in the image is centered on the main title
and the main images at the top of the page. The infographic has an asymmetrical
balance, by having the excuses and information on each side. Also, the title at
the top and the “No More…” at the bottom are asymmetrical to each other.
The color scheme that I used was the colors on
the Marlboro box. I used these colors to help create the overall design and
emotion of the inforgraphic. Also, I used color to help indicate what messages are
being said with each color. The brown in the image is to match the color of a
cigarette butt. I used color to help with the movement. The movement that I
created was left to right. I did this by angling the different information to
point down to the next information that should be read. Then I have the “No
More…” at the bottom to move the person back up to the top to “No More Butts…”
Finally, I used typography to help create the
overall feel of the infographic. The font that I used for the “No More Butts…”
and for the “No More…” is called, Abril Fatface. It is a very similar font to
the font used on the Marlboro box. Then I used the font Trocchi for all the
smaller information. This font is similar to the other two, but it is easier to
read as a smaller font.

Very nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThis looks really great, I can tell you put a lot of delicate work into it, but did you notice the type in one of the last quotes? "people die prematurely due tobacco?" I only mention this cause I don't know if you are planning to use it elsewhere.
