I took this picture a few years ago while on vacation in Costa Rica. I thought I could turn this into a good magazine cover. The people playing in the ocean and the few boats off to the left I thought added to the sunset. I chose the blue font to be a complementary color with the orange of the sunset. I also think the blue adds a calming affect which I think people want to be calm and relaxed as they thing of traveling/going on vacation.
As I was looking at other magazine covers, they have a lot more words than I put on this. My intent was to keep in simple and uncluttered to go along with the relaxing theme. I didn't edit anything on the picture but then I used Photoshop to add the text.

The one thing i really like are the different colors that are used throughout. The one thing that I am not a big fan of is the font. I really like the top font, but the ones on the sides I dont know if it is the font or the color, but I don't understand. But the image.... holy mother! i love it!
ReplyDeleteLindsey, I really liked how you pulled the magazine cover together. It feels very real as if it could actually be in a store. The color of blue for the text contrasts well against the orangey background and the typeface, itself, I feel are very indicative of what you are trying to convey to the reader.
