Color Assignment--Sydney Walton

Complementary color scheme was the first color scheme I ever learned in art class as a little kid, but it is so fascinating seeing how many different things you can do with two colors when you take tints, shades, and tones into consideration. I chose red and green because these colors have always had such positive connotations to me (how can you not be reminded of warm Christmas memories when you see red and green?!). I loved the contrast of the stem to the flower. They literally complement each other so well and make the other seem so vibrant and crisp. The background is not distracting and draws all the viewer's focus to the red and green. The words just seemed so fitting for this flower--and I wanted to keep things clean and simple. The Adobe color wheel creator was not only fun to use but taught me how much variety you can have with complementary colors.

I commented on Todd Bean, Jordan Wheeler, Maren Owen, Nicole Hale and Dakota Williams.

  1. I like the placement of your type and how it is in all caps. Gets the message across quickly and clearly. And even though you're talking about where you're planted, you can't see where this flower is planted. That's kind of cool, because it's up to you as the viewer to decide where this flower (or you) is planted. The image is very clear and crisp as well which makes the colors more vibrant. Excellent job.

  2. I loved how the flowers and font were all the same color, it ties it all together very nicely. The mixture of colors has a strong emotional appeal as well. It's happy!
