The design that I came up with for this assignment is a stepping stone to what I hope will be my final project. Professor Callahan urged us to think about the things we have discussed and tried to create in previous assignments, namely emotion, typography, and color as well as balance/contrast.
For my design, I decided to advocate for birthing centers, particularly the one that my sister used. The emotion I wanted to covey was care and welcome. I wanted the viewer to see the poster and get a sense of the welcoming and caring nature of birthing centers, this one in particular. I feel like I created this feeling with the monochromatic colors, handwritten typography and the photos utilized. As for typography, I felt a handwritten text would serve nicely. It conveys a humanistic element which is typical of the doctors at the center.
I commented on Eric Morgan, Lindsey Peterson, Mallory Jesperson, Eric Slaugh, and Sam Thorup.

Love the balance of this. The words inside the woman is really really cool.
ReplyDeleteThis ad is very well done. I like the purple lines about the small images to help frame the images from the text and the larger image. The way the mother is outlined with words create a powerful feel. Also, the colors make me feel calm and that the center is a good place.
ReplyDeleteThe pregnant woman was very well done. The contrast between the woman and the black and white photos on the bottom really make this ad work.
ReplyDeleteReally awesome job with the text inside the outline of the body. Also, the colors are great. Good work!
ReplyDeleteI like how the text forms the woman's body and how there are real photos below forming a nice border. I think that the monochromatic color scheme was a good choice. The only thing that I think could be improved is possibly a different font, and making the title at the very top just a little bigger. Overall, great job!
ReplyDeleteThis is really well done! You really used obvious techniques from what we learned in class, so good job with that. The colors are mic and calming which I think is fitting for the family wellness oriented theme.
ReplyDeleteI really just find this so adorable and love the monochromatic color scheme. Your lead picture really captures the essence of what your poster is all about.
ReplyDeleteYep...you did it. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI think that the use of a type based layout on this is really effective because it captures your attention.
ReplyDeleteI really like the soft blue color as well as the bottom line of pictures pulls your eyes along then up to the main image. very good job.
