I wanted to use this illustration because of the all the different colors it had and techniques it would require. The original image used your standard reds, but I wanted to make a "frostbite" version using different kinds of blues. I went to kuler.adobe.com and picked out a monochromatic color scheme. I wanted a color scheme that had multiple different shades of blue but also included gray for the outlining of the lips. I then used Photoshop to color in the illustration by tinting and shading to give it more of a gradient look. While coloring the image I thought it was important to stay true to the original design and keep some areas blended and other areas with a sharper contrast. I feel that by doing this it gives the image more of a frostbite affect.

ReplyDeleteAwesome job Nicole. You picked a good image as your starting point.
ReplyDeleteI really like the simple monochromatic choice for this image. It really emphasizes what is being shown because it uses non-traditional colors for lips. The title is also perfect.

ReplyDeleteI love this visual. You picked such a beautiful color scheme. There are clearly multiple colors on the lips but I like how you blended them all. Great overall.
ReplyDeleteIt does give it a good frosbite look, the different shades of blue that are used in the bottom of the lips area look cool. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteFrostbitten! Great title and composition. I have had frostbite before, so my only suggestion would be a little more purpley that royal blue. Nice job.
