Assignment #3 Aaron Adams - Fishing for Brown Trout

I took this picture of me up in Montana when I was fishing for brown trout recently. Montana can go from layers of green in the spring, to the colors of a brushfire in fall, to a blank white slate in winter and everything in between. In this photo, I used a compound color scheme with the muted option on the Adobe tool. I went into Photoshop to edit these colors and make them complement each other a little more. They are all tones of brown, leading up to white. I left a slight blue in the sky because I felt it looked too dreary without it. However, the browns all change as they roam over the landscape and the creek.

Above is the color scheme I used to help create this picture. Hopefully this helps the brown tones to pop out a little more and show how the blue-white of the snow and sky help to complement the rest of the photo.

I commented on Brandon Hansen, Morgan Linford, Hannah Childs, Doug Heath, and Lexi Erickson's photos.

  1. I really like this color scheme. It's consistent with the theme of the photo and the photograph itself almost feels like a painting. I like that the fisher is almost hiding (which makes sense because of the camo).

  2. I like the color scheme, it fits the situation perfectly. I also like how you kept the little bit of blue in it so the picture wasn't so dark.

  3. This picture is strangely beautiful, and whereas I'd usually look at those colors and find them unappealing, they combine in a really nice picture here.

  4. You'd think that all the browns wouldn't work but it actually does. The situation and colors work hand-in-hand.
