Project 1 -- Madison Houghton -- Be Afraid

For this project I decided to try and portray the emotion of Fear. I thought about several different ways to approach this and finally settled on huddling underneath the blankets with just my eyes to communicate the emotion. I turned the photo black and white because it more closely resembles a night time/noir/Alfred Hitchcock setting. The duplication of my face was accidental at first, but then I decided I liked it because it gave more balance to the photo, as well as a hallucinogenic feel to it--which doubles the scary fear factor.

Ps I commented on; Samantha Thorup, Mallory Jesperson, James Birdsall, Jenna Randle, and Alex Skinner.

  1. I have a fear of getting out of bed as the season gets colder and colder.

  2. Very nice. I wonder how the feeling of the image would change if the whole thing was darkened?

  3. I love the grain and the use of black and white its very appropriate to display fear. I like how you stacked the images on top of each of. Did you do it by having a long exposure and moving or is it a composite image?

  4. Very interesting picture. I have no idea how you did the effect but I agree it adds to the feel of fright. To me it kind of has an older touch to it, like its not in sharp focus. Great picture to display fear!
