Drown - Jordan Miki Wheeler
I really think this photo is up for interpretation of the viewer. For me, it brings two emotions to mind. The first being the panic of being trapped in the water, drowning, caught in a riptide. That fear and panic is very real. The second is peace. The peace of being alone, the peace of death, the peace of sinking to the bottom like Leonardo Decaprio in Titanic. It's the peace of giving up. It is the last sunset. Acceptance.
I commented on Alex Skinner, Miranda Facer, Mallory Jesperson, Dakota Williams, and Maren Owen.

i lol'ed. i dont know why i just did. you obviously nailed this assignment if you dont get 100% that would be ridiculous. The way the word drown begins to drown is such a beautiful play. drowing is very sad, and since you are trying to show it in a peaceful way the image perfectly fits the motif.
ReplyDeleteThe way the words are 'drowning' is very creative, good job! I also love the color and the sailboat makes it follow the rule of thirds.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and the way that you made the word partially transparent and "drowning" as Lindsey said, is very creative.
ReplyDeleteWell i'm depressed, thank Jordan. Just as I start to get over Jack's death, too.
ReplyDeleteVery well done. This looks professional and was executed really well.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is beautiful. And terrifying. All at the same time.
ReplyDeleteSo I really love the image. And I really love how the word "drown" is actually drowning because it's partially submerged and fading. But at first there was a disconnect when I viewed it. It said "drown" which has negative connotations. But it was so beautiful and serene. I think I have finally decided that to me, this picture means to drown your sorrows and look at the beauty that surrounds you.
ReplyDeleteThis image certainly evoke a frustrated feeling within me. The execution is excellent.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorites. It is so creative. I like how the words are in the water, and I really like the boat in the middle of the D. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, because your type is creating an image and a message in and of itself. I also like how you frame the sailboat in the empty space of the D. It's giving the sense that there is a possibility of drowning, giving a sense of hope and disparity at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is very beautiful but it makes me feel conflicted. I think that I agree with some of the other comments that to me this picture represents drowning your troubles or fears.
