Asst #2- Clarissa Oliphant- Tis' the Season

This image is created using only text but due to colors and text placement the text forms another graphic. The typeface is a basic round sans serif (Century Gothic) that keep the text simple and emphasis on the formation of the tree, allowing the shape of the tree formed to easily be distinguished. Because of the text alignment, the eye begins at the top of the tree and one reads vertically down. This is so one's eye ends at the word Christ. This word is also at the base of the tree in symbolism of Christ as the foundation of Christmas and that the other warm memories above it are dependent on Him. Christ is also capitalized to show a sure foundation  and to bring greater emphasis. Tracking and leading were also used to create this image. The color gold has used for the text to symbolize their value is equal to gold, and green as the background color in contrast and to add to the Christmas theme.

I commented on the images of Mallory Jesperson, Benton Challis, Dania Rice, Giulianna Collato, & Nicole Hale.

  1. I absolutely love this idea! I think it's amazing that you could put this together with all of the things that are important at christmas time. The organization of it is very well done!

  3. This is so cool. I love the simplicity of the color choices. The words you used are also all very relatable. Not just basic Christmas things like presents and Santa. And love how you put Christ at the bottom because I see that as being the solid stump or the foundation of Christmas.

  4. I really love this picture. It is so sleek and simple, yet holds an untold amount of feelings. You were able to create a visual that is extremely appealing, but refrains from being over-the-top like a lot of Christmas photography.

  6. I love this! I really like that you made Christ the foundation and in all caps to emphasis the importance of remembering the true reason we celebrate Christmas. This was such a clever idea and so simple.

  8. I like how clean and simple this is. I also really enjoy how the words create the image. I like the different things that mean Christmas to you, but even more, I like how you arranged them. I love that "Christ" is the base, because He's the whole basis for Christmas. And the fact that all of the other things are more mainstream Christmas things makes that stand out even more.
