Nathan Innis - Layout

I love music. As a jazz pianist, I especially love the improvisational elements of music. I imagined a scenario in which the International Society for Improvised Music asked me to create a magazine ad for their upcoming convention in Switzerland.

I was going for an overall clean, minimalist layout so the pictures in the letters would stand out. I used photoshop to make the letters clipping masks for the pictures I collected. The pictures are a snapshot of improvisation throughout history and cultures, reflecting the mission of ISIM.

I commented on the following:

Steven Potter
Victoria Wilkins
Ashley Frehner
Dillon Olsen
Spencer King

  1. The images you chose to place in the letters are great! There's a range of eras as well as moods and I like how you made this image express more than one emotion

  5. I like it. Perhaps you could outline the letter just a little better, for some of the letters are hard to make out at first compared to the white space.

  6. Fantastic! Great font choice and placement. Although I wonder if there is too much free space in the bottom? Maybe if the "ISIM" was a tad bigger?
