Every person has a distinct identity. This can also be observed in the life and culture found in our cities. My intent was to instill a reminiscent moment that my fellow city-slickers could relate to.
This picture was taken during a trip I took a few years ago to New York. I was visiting an old childhood friend of mine for spring break, and this is just one of the images I took during my stay. New York is such a huge part of my life, and I hope to return many more times in the future.
As for the techniques I used, I initially spent a lot of time experimenting on different color scheme ideas. I wanted a palette that would go with my desired message. To create complementary and harmonious tones for my design, I implemented a lot of dark colors to contrast the lighter shades that would accompany the image as a whole. I made a logo for a fictitious company, "CitySlickerz & Kingz", and created a headline through illustrator. My biggest struggle to overcome was to allow the headline and logo to be clear, without distracting from the image in the background. My image had a good use of perspective, which created dimensions within the image. Lastly, I centered my headline and logos so that everything would be perfectly aligned.

I like the way you decided to make the text stand out more by having a faint circle behind it. That was a good move on your part.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrasting warm and cool colors in this one.
ReplyDeleteAs stated above, I also love the contrast between the light from the bakery and the darker colors outside. There is definitely emotion drawn from this image because of that contrast.
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job from when we were looking at it in class and now. The accent from the logo and the circle in the back helps your text to jump out more. And as we were talking about, I think your colors work together well.
ReplyDeleteKenny, good adjustments from your rough to the final version. By adding the background to the words it gives it better contrast and is easier on the eyes--nice job.
ReplyDeletereally cool design
ReplyDeleteI really like the text in the middle matched with the urban colors and dingy city look. It all works together very well to create a specific scene.
ReplyDeleteI love the faded, dark colors of this photo. I also really like the design of the overlay.
