Creela Belle Howard -- Color Assignment

So you can see I have little experience with making illustrations from scratch. So, yeah, lots of things that could be better...
The inspiration behind this is a sign I saw on my mission by the drop off area at a bus and metro station. The sign said Kiss and Ride, as in "drop person off, kiss them goodbye, and away they go." I thought, "how cute," 'cause I am a hopeless romantic like that, so... I decided to apply that to the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) since that is the public transportation in this area.
So on color.adobe I used the color scheme "shades." I chose blue because it is calming and trusting and one needs to feel calm, safe and trusting of transportation or else people freak. Using blue as a main color, I created different hues. I knew I would need a color for the sky, the road, the bus, and skin color, so I made a very light tint for skin color, a semi-dark shade for the "grass" and anything I wanted a dark color, a very grey tone for the road, and then a happy sky blue for... you guessed it, the sky.
I re-created the UTA logo using colors from the scheme so it would fit the rest of the illustration.
The story this is telling is a simple one: a wife kissing her husband before he hops on a bus to go to work. I hope when girls see this, they think "Aw...." and I hope guys  feel inspired to spend time with their wives, girlfriends, or motivated to ask that girl they've been thinking about all day.
Looking at it, there are definitely some changes I would make, but I want to know what you would change so PLEASE comment below. Don't be afraid of offending me.

  1. I loved how you used varying shades of blue, but I don't feel like I'm staring at a giant blob of blue. You used different shades in the right areas to achieve a great look.

  3. Impressive Illustrator skills. I might use one color as a pop to accent your blues, and round out some of your corners, but otherwise it's a nice, artsy idea for UTA

  8. I really enjoyed the design. It is fun and gets the point across. I would have made The logo a different color just so it stands out a little more
