Color Assignment - Marissa Liu

I took this picture a few weeks ago at Newport Beach. The colors in this photo are very harmonious, and the color scheme is made up of analogous colors. Because the photo is primarily cool colors, it has a very peaceful and relaxed feel. It really emphasizes the California beach vibe. I matched the color scheme in the text and design, using yellow as the accent color to add emphasis and excitement.

I commented on:
Kenny Kang
Shauna Holdaway
Hannah Maines
Porter Chelson
J. Felix Lara

  1. Newport is one of my favorite places in the world so I had to comment! You captured the vibe of Newport so well and I love the colors!! Good job.

  2. I've never been to Newport Beach, but this image makes me want to go! I really think you captured what you were going for here. The fading of the blue as it goes up on the image and the typefaces work super well together.
One thing would be maybe making the "life gets better" part a little darker for a bit more contrast to the background, but honestly it looks great the way it is!

  3. The colors just scream summer to me. I like it. Not to mention it looks like those are beach houses. I love the oval placed perfectly between the palm trees.

  4. This design has such a great use of alignment and symmetry. The colors work very well with what you are trying to do. One thing I thought of is to maybe change the header into a brighter font so that it can pop out more. Otherwise, awesome job.

  5. I love the how the houses and trees are placed. One thing that I would suggest is making the font at the top lighter so that it is easier to read.

  6. Great use of the copy complimenting the rest of the picture! The anchor is also very well done!

  7. I think that the primary colors (blue and yellow) work really well together as they are both mellow and yet still scream summer vacation. I love it, great job!

  8. I like the use of light, but warm colors. Conveys a sense of warmth but not necessarily hot summer. This tricks me mind into thinking summer is not super hot. Awesome use of type as well
