Color assignment- Lorraine Bailey

Blue to Gold

For this assignment I decided to use a picture I took in my neighborhood a few months ago and edit its colors to match my color palette. My color palette is composed of blue, green, gold to yellow colors (all colors I think about when I think about the ocean and the beach where i am from.) The picture already had different tints of blue with the boat, the water, the sky, and the windows of the houses, but I enhanced the colors and applied a blue filter, using photoshop. I also used a second filter (vintage filter) to give the picture a "goldish" color and sunny feel. I also edited the water inside of the boat mixing the different colors found in the picture. I wanted to mix both blue, which is a cold and calming color, and yellow (gold) which is a warm and energetic color.

  1. Nice job at adjusting your colors to really give the whole picture a feeling of the ocean and not just the water. It makes everything appear as if it's been enveloped by the oceans color

  2. Great picture, the only thing that i could critique is just the color of the water inside the boat... i know it's probably suppose to just look like dirt water but since it's yellow it makes me think of urine. other than that, i think it's great

  3. I love the color of the ocean! It feels so tropical and makes me want to go on vacation. I agree with the color of the water in the boat. That's just one thing I would change if it were my project.

  4. I love the contrasting colors, and I agree Blue, Green, and Gold remind me of the coast. However, I'm not a huge fan of the gold color in the water in the boat, and the greenish/gold color in the ocean as well. It just doesn't match the emotions I get from the rest of the photo. If you are able to tweek the water color in those two area, I think this would be awesome!!!!! Good job!
