So I definitely used way more photoshop in this one than I ever have before. I used a monochromatic color scheme with a blue emphasis. Firstly, I took the pictures using a remote shutter release. Then I brought them home, tweaked them for exposure and contrast. Once done with that I selected the umbrella in each of the pictures and added a color balance and fiddled with the colors until I achieved the color shown. Once the color balance was added, I inversely selected the rest of the picture and added a black and white filter. I then used photoshop to combine them into one picture. I then added a light vignette on the far left image while adding a dark vignette on the far right image.
Blue means a number of things to me. It's calming, but also at the same time it represents sadness and loss. I recently lost my grandfather and I've been thinking about loss and spirituality lately. I thought this would be a fitting tribute.

I love love love love this!!! It pops, but not in a random way because it totally ties in
ReplyDeleteThis is very curious and emotional photo narrative. I love the concept because it causes viewers to keep looking until they draw their own personal interpretation.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I always like black and white with pops of color, and it works especially well here with the blue and the umbrella.
