The concept and feeling I wanted to represent through this picture of the St. George Utah Temple is a light of peace and hope in a world of darkness.
“The house of the Lord, bathed in light, standing out in the darkness, becomes symbolic of the power and the inspiration of the gospel of Jesus Christ,” said President Boyd K. Packer. “Standing as a beacon in a world that sinks ever further into spiritual darkness.” (“The Holy Temple,” Ensign Oct. 2010)
On a common night drive, especially in the Utah Valley, you can easily spot a fully lit temple in the distance. It’s a symbol to me that God’s love and presence is never too far from you. As members of the church, we have a blessed opportunity to enter The House of the Lord to not only make sacred covenants with the Lord, but also enter a spiritual sanctuary from the world around us. In this picture, I like the emphasis and brightness of the lighting in contrast with the night sky, portraying God’s presence around His House. I feel this picture can serve as a nice reminder of where we can go to receive God’s love and peace.
I love this message and the glow of the Temple. You did really good capturing its beauty!
